A favorite lake for the Murray family.... Lake El Cuchillo is located approximately one hour southwest of McAllen, Texas. Cuchillo is the only lake in Mexico that has been deemed a sportfishing lake. With the lake being located only 70 miles from the Texas border, accessibility is very easy. All commercial fishing with nets is prohibited and there is a one fish limit per day. The lake record of 14 pounds 6 ounces is held by Chuy Morales, our professional fishing guide. The best months to fish in Mexico are November to May. Hotel Hacienda Don Carlos, located in the State Park on the lake, offers great accomodations at reasonable prices.

Some people say that Lake Cuchillo is going to be the next premier bass fishing lake in Mexico. We beg to differ – it is the finest bass lake in Mexico today.
